We are excited to introduce Ms. Joan Bellefield Davis, Of Counsel, 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺, 𝗣𝗟𝗖, as an instructor for our Fashion Law course!

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻 𝗕. 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀:

With over a decade of experience, Ms. Joan specializes in 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨, 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘, 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙪𝙭𝙪𝙧𝙮 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙬. Her extensive trademark docket includes clients from around the globe.

Ms. Joan's diverse background provides her with a unique perspective on literary and fashion law. She co-authored the book 𝗙𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝗶 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲, which made waves in the “Chick-lit” genre, complemented by merchandise and design lines. Her experience in the fashion modeling industry even landed her on the 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄, where she discussed the challenges faced by child models and the role of parental involvement in their careers.

With a 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 and a 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲, Ms. Joan has successfully collaborated with authorities to remove counterfeit goods from online platforms like eBay. She also 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗟. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 and had a 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮 before law school.

Ms. Joan consistently earns Avvo’𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 in entertainment law and receives stellar reviews. Her commitment to pro-bono work, particularly through the The Virginia Bar Association’s 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲, inspired her to develop the “𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘆𝗲𝗿” 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, providing free consultations to artists, musicians, fashion designers, and other creatives.
